Batoto Yetu (Swahili for “Our Children”) is an unparalleled arts organization that uses traditional African dance, music and folklore to inspire and motivate underprivileged children. By introducing young people to the rich history and culture of Africa, Batoto Yetu brings Africa to Harlem, replacing common racial stereotypes with new archetypes. Batoto Yetu has been dedicated to fostering the healthy creative and social development of children through the expressive medium of dance for over 18 years, working diligently to bring traditional African dance and culture to underserved youth and cultivate self-awareness and self-esteem through the performing arts.
